The Positive Things About iPhone XR

Well, we can list a handful of positive things about the new iPhone XR. But we can just point out the most significant features built inside the system.

The first and the best thing about the new iPhone XR is its new A12 bionic chip hexa-core processor. It is Apple’s latest processor for its iOS devices. It is a 7nm (nanometer) chip that focuses on better performance using only fewer system resources. And yes, it can play demanding mobile games. Mainly, the effect should be significant on the battery demand.

The other thing is the latest iOS 12 that delivers better accessibility all throughout the system functionalities and some UI improvements. Some major bugs were reportedly fixed as well coming from the previous iOS version.

And then there is that notch. While that big distraction on top is still there, it is not there for no reason. The notch holds up several sensors including the camera. It has the microphone, infrared sensors, and more jargons that Apple came up with to highlight the use of their Face ID technology.

Some Questionable Features

Back to LCD Display

Apple’s decision to go back to LCD to cut down their iPhone next generation tag price is already known months before the event. So this fact is not a secret anymore. The AMOLED screen was one of the reasons why the first iPhone X was a thousand dollar expensive.

iPhone XR Liquid Retina

The Liquid Retina HD display is honestly just a jargon that Tim Cook used to make it sound fancy. It really is just an LCD panel. If you don’t believe me, watch the video that JerryRigEverything made to tear down the iPhone XR.

There’s nothing fancy about their LCD material, and it never showed anything jaw-dropping. It got scratched just like any ordinary LCD from any budget Android smartphone.

Display Resolution

The display resolution might not be a bigger of an issue than it is for most people but for some, it is disappointing. The fact that the iPhone XR is worth more than $700 is just not appealing for some enthusiasts.

iPhone XR in Landscape Mode

When most smartphones priced from $400 has the display resolution of 1080p, the $750 smartphone with a mediocre display is just plain mind-boggling 1792 x 828 resolution.

Sure, most Apple fans would be in rage right now for reading something like this. But no one can take away the fact that the iPhone XR display is supposed to be eye-popping with its impressive true-to-life display but it is not.

Single Rear Camera

The iPhone camera is undeniably one of the best cameras out there for smartphones. It is not the best, but it certainly is not one of the least favorite cameras out there.

Iphone XR has a Single Camera

Sadly, while their camera is not on par with that of Google Pixel 2 XL and Samsung Galaxy Note 9, they still went with a single camera. As you may remember that the previous iPhone X has two cameras and it didn’t become the best one around, they still chose to put just a single camera for this new iPhone XR.

But then, we have to remember that this might be one of the reasons why the iPhone XR price was cut down to $750. So yes, we can consider that. Let’s move on.

The iPhone XR Battery Capacity: The Little Secret

If you have watched the recent Apple event, Apple representatives boasted every aspect of the new iPhone XR but never mentioned the battery capacity. Why is that?

iPhone XR Battery

Apple has been all over how the new processing power can efficiently save battery significantly but missed out telling their audiences how much battery they are talking about. They talked about how the new 7nm chip can add more efficiency which translates to added one hour and a half more than the previous iPhone 8 Plus.

While that sounds pretty impressive when it was told, something felt amiss about that very moment. Yes, they said that users could get more time of usage with the new iPhone XR but how much battery are we talking about?

The Apple event ended with that question unanswered. And then recently, the news came out. A leaked document stated that the iPhone XR has 2,942mAh. When all smartphones are giving around 4,000mAh or more battery to give their users more time to use their phone, iPhone is too cheap on giving us more juice.

No Headphone Dongle

Aside from the removal of 3D Touch feature which a lot of Apple users admit that they do not actually use, Apple also removed their free headphone dongle. For the $750 price, they couldn’t add a $9 worth of necessary gadget within the package.

Latest Issues (Update)

  • Charge-gate– According to a popular YouTuber, Lew of Unbox Therapy said his iPhone XS Max won’t charge while in sleep mode. And then sometimes it really just won’t charge at all.
  • Beauty-gate– The same source said that iPhone XS Max camera has beauty mode enabled without a switch on-off. But Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech said it is just bad camera processing. That means the iPhone X series camera of 2018 is bad.
  • Not Sapphire Glass on Camera– Jerry Rig on YouTube proved that the camera is not actually using a sapphire glass cover. Apple lied. See the actual video below.

So are we still expecting the iPhone XR to be performing differently knowing that this version of iPhone is the cheapest? I think we all know where this is going.

In Conclusion

There are significant upgrades on this year’s iPhone series, but there are also questionable downgrades and removal. And the fact that the iPhone XS Max has a price tag of up to $1500, Apple is really setting the bar high.

The sad part is people are putting up with this madness. $1500 for a smartphone is really insane. When some smartphones are priced around $500 or less with similar to probably even better performance than the iPhone X series, Apple must really think small about their users. And unfortunately, Apple loyal users just do not care.

The issues of the iPhone XS Max are most likely the issues of the iPhone XR. So this raises an even curious question. Is the iPhone XR your next smartphone?

So what we will do is to let them have their way. Let’s just hope for the best that they get what their money’ worth. Anyway, here’s the new iPhone series guided tour.

So what do you think about Apple’s way of business or their products’ prices? Are you planning to get the latest iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section. We will be more than happy to learn what you guys think.
