The Oath Movie Review – Such A Bad Comedy

The Oath movie is supposed to be funny but sadly, there are lots of off-beats in the story. Given that the movie is in comedy and thriller genre, it does not feel that way at all. As a matter of fact, we couldn’t really figure out what it is exactly. If you are planning to watch this movie, this is The Oath movie review.

The Oath Thanksgiving dinner

You see, I get that the movie is trying to tackle the racism issue that has been on the rise since Trump became the president of the United States. The concept is all good but this movie is just not delivering it the way it should.

To give you a better idea, let me give you the short version of the story. Here’s The Oath movie review. Please know that there could be some spoilers.

The Oath Movie Review

Basically, here’s my understanding of the movie’s storyline. The Oath starts on a note about the government making its citizen sign some sort of a petition – the Patriot’s Oath. It’s supposed to imply some loyalty or patriotism towards their country,

Mason, played by Ike Barinholtz, is a regular family guy that wants nothing to do with the government’s call for “patriotism.” Come the Thanksgiving and the deadline for the signing of the petition, the country gets divided.

CPU personnel

This is where all the trouble came crashing down. Two CPU (Citizen Protection Unit) personnel visited the house and confronted Mason and his family. Some fights started, harsh words were spilled, and blood was shed. Well, it’s not as brutal as it sounds but it sure is as dumb as it gets.

The Verdict

This is The Oath movie review and as far as I want to be nice and polite, I can’t. Don’t get me wrong. While the concept is relatively interesting, the dumbness of the script and the stupidity of the whole storyline are just unbelievably out of common sense.

I like Ike Barinholtz from MadTv and Blockers, but this one is just horrible. I can’t really say if it is because of the acting or just sloppy screenwriting from the writers.

And the ending, totally pinned the whole movie down. It’s not even a climax. It’s just a bridge to help the movie reach an ending and make its way to the end credits.

I’ll give the movie a 2-star rating out of 10. Sorry guys. It’s just a waste of time.
